PKP Intercity announced that it hopes to offer passangers soon the possibility of paying an additional, voluntary fee for making their trip climate neutral according to money.pl website.

According to the plans the carbon offsetting possibility would be a voluntary additional fee that could be used to reduce the carbon footprint of the travels with the railway company, which is low anyway in the case of railways compared to other transportation modes.

With this caron offsetting scheme PKP Intercity would be be the first climate-neutral carrier in Poland.

PKP Intercity is the largest long-distance railway carrier in the country. In 2019, the company had nearly 49 million passengers compared to over 46 million passengers a year earlier. In 2020 (during the coronavirus pandemic), PKP IC transported about 27 million people.
