The company announced that it will build a photovoltaic power plant to supply its factory located in Nyíregyháza, Hungary.
Not all the details of the project are known yet but the company announced that the new solar farm will supply 40-50% of the electricity need of the factory.
The peak capacity of the photovoltaic power plant will be 4.6MW.
The project is already in the planning phase and panels are foreseen to be installed on the summer of 2021. The modern LEGO production facility of the Danish company was opened in 2014.
This investment is part of LEGO’s plan to invest up to 400 million USD in the next 3 years to become more sustainable. Part of this strategy is to decrease the carbon footprint of the factories by 37% in line with the Science Based Targets Initiative.
