Carrefour Polska continues its efforts to improve the quality of its own brand products and is the first retail chain in Poland to join the European Chicken Commitment, a European initiative aimed at improving the welfare of meat chickens. The commitment that the chain will fulfill by 2026 covers all fresh, frozen and processed own-brand products, which include, among others, 50% of poultry meat and was developed in cooperation with the organization Compassion in World Farming.
The European Chicken Commitment is a European initiative by some 30 NGOs that have proposed a set of criteria for the broiler industry to improve agro-food industry practices. Carrefour Polska undertook that by 2026 all fresh, frozen and processed products of Carrefour’s own brand, which include min. 50% of chicken meat, will comply with the commitments of this initiative.
Carrefour Polska is an omnichannel retail chain with over 900 stores operating in Poland in 6 formats: hypermarkets, supermarkets, wholesale and discount stores, local and specialist stores, and an online store. Carrefour also owns a network of 20 shopping centers in Poland with a total area of over 230,000 GLA and a network of over 40 petrol stations.
